The Attack on President Trump Is an Attack on America

On Saturday night, an armed man attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C. Trump, First Lady Melania, Vice President Vance, and Cabinet members were rushed to safety. Make no mistake, this was not a random act of violence. This was a planned, coordinated attempt to take out the United States government's leadership.
Suspect Cole Allen, 31, arrived at the Washington Hilton armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives. He traveled cross-country by train, booked a room inside the same hotel, bypassed security through an interior stairwell, and charged directly toward the ballroom where the President of the United States was seated. This level of premeditation is not just a criminal matter; it is a national security threat.
FBI Director Kash Patel has made clear that the investigation is moving fast. Weapons, shell casings, and ballistics have already been transported to Quantico Laboratories for analysis. Dozens of interviews have been conducted. Investigators know exactly how Allen entered the building, how he moved through security undetected, and when he arrived. A criminal complaint is imminent.
Allen now faces three federal charges, including attempting to assassinate the President of the United States. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
But Americans must ask the harder question: how did we get here? This is the THIRD attempt on President Trump's life. When liberals spend years painting the President as an existential threat to democracy, when they use every platform available to dehumanize and delegitimize him, violent actors are listening. Words have consequences. Rhetoric has consequences.
The safety of this nation depends on the safety of its leadership. An attack on President Trump is an attack on every American who voted for him, every value he represents, and the future of this country. The rule of law will prevail. Justice is coming.
